SENSING THE FUTURE: How can we use sensory play to reimagine our life and work?
20 - 23 June, Provence
What new possibilities can we create when we bring together a curated group of artists, business leaders, techies, coaches, philosophers, and activists to engage in 3 days of sensory play?
We all start our lives in a state of play and discovery – as kids, it’s what allows us to engage with and learn about the world we inhabit. Play comes before language and is a language in itself - one that can help us connect, imagine and create.
But somehow, as we age, we begin to look at play as something frivolous that serious adults don’t have time for. And if we do engage in any sort of play, it’s serious. We go into it with an objective, a goal, with a competitive mindset. There are rules, stakes, and sacrifices. And eventually, play fighting becomes political, turning into war and survival.
But this isn’t what play is really about.
Stuart Brown, founder of the National Institute for Play, defines play as “an apparently purposeless activity that is fun to do and pleasurable.” Play is a gateway to possibility that can transport us out of the realm of things we already know and into the realm of things we haven’t figured out yet. This is where the innovation and the magic happen.
Over 3 days in a beautiful setting, surrounded by vineyards and lavender fields, we will use our five senses, our bodies, and our imagination to explore the unknown and imagine through creative activities such as food painting, silent walks, movement practices, storytelling, drawing, role-playing, and wine listening.
On Friday, 21 June, we will open our doors to a community dinner co-hosted by Esther Blazquez Blanco and Chris Everett. AMA is an experience of beauty, hope, and love we need now more than ever.
